Even the best interior design won’t help if the house doesn’t have a soul to make it a home. Homepolish interior designer Delia Kenza managed to both design her Brooklyn brownstone beautifully and capture her family spirit, passion and heritage all together.
The owners saved the original features like the antique floors, ceiling mouldings, and hand-carved fireplaces but the rest got a fun and vibrant update reflecting the family’s love for African art and their creative backgrounds.
The bones of the place are kept quiet monochromatic, it is the furniture, art and decor that adds splashes of colours and interest to the space. I absolutely love the home office decorated with the African masks sculptures but my favourite room is the kids’ bedroom. I love the crisp white walls, the neon sign and the leopard cushions and can it shows that you can decorate a room with Ikea furniture (beds) and it can still look amazing and unique.
